What You Can Expect
We'll begin with a prompt pick-up from your hotel in our private transportation. Our first stop will be the local wharf and fish market where you will observe locals living and working in this sea-side town.
From the wharf we will climb up the iconic Morro Solar in our private transportation giving you a great vantage point to observe the Southern Coast of Lima, also known as the "Costa Verde" by locals.
Next, we will head South down the Pan-American highway toward Lima's largest pre-Colombian archaeological site, the Ruins at Pachacamac. The complex, which extends for over 500 hectares, was once a very significant ceremonial site for the late Incan Empire. As you tour with a local guide you will have the opportunity to stretch out your legs a bit with a 20-30 minute hike up to the Temple of the Sun; allowing for some breath taking views of the Lurín Valley and Pacific Ocean below (for those who prefer a tour with minimal walking you can admire the view of the temple from our private transportation.)
As we head back toward our last stop, Barranco, you can take this time to chat with your guide about the vast cultural divide you have taken in thus far on your trip. Affluence built alongside of poverty; how do the cultures coincide as one?
In Barranco we will observe the colorful and fun street art created for us by local artists as we leisurely wander the streets of this quaint neighborhood. If you're in the mood for an ice cream, we can even stop to sample some of the fresh, local flavors.
